DURHAM, NC - Christian Arroyo drove in three runs and the Durham Bulls held off the Toledo Mud Hens 4-3 in the battle of first place teams at the DBAP on Tuesday night.
In the opening frame, Arroyo stepped to the plate with Kean Wong on first and drilled a two-run home run over the Blue Monster to give the home team a 2-0 lead.
The Bulls (57-43) had their lead cut in half in the visitor's second, with a solo-home run by former Bull Mikie Mahtook to cut the lead to 2-1.
In the home half of the second, Durham added to its lead when Andrew Velazquez doubled in a run following a leadoff walk by Nick Ciuffo. Later in the frame, Arroyo drove in his third run of the game with a single to right field to score Velazquez and extend the advantage to 4-1.
Toledo (53-47) cut the Bulls' lead to 4-3 with on an RBI single from Dawel Lugo in the seventh and Harold Castro single in the eighth.  
Relievers Colin Poche, Ruben Alaniz, Jordan Harrison and Ian Gibaut (S, 7) helped strand 13 runners on base and limited the Mud Hens to 2-for-16 with runners in scoring position to secure a Bull City victory. Gibaut stranded runners at second and third in the top of the ninth to earn his seventh save of the season.
Andrew Moore (4-5) earned his fourth win of the season, tossing 6.0 innings, allowing one run on seven hits with four strikeouts.
The Bulls continue a six-game homestand with game two against the Mud Hens on Wednesday evening at 7:05 p.m. Austin Pruitt (2-0, 3.63) is scheduled to start for Durham opposite Ryan Carpenter (1-5, 5.72) for Toledo on Bark in the Park at the DBAP.
