A three-run second inning by Jacksonville was enough for the Jumbo Shrimp to defeat the Durham Bulls 4-2 on Sunday afternoon at the DBAP.

Ten-year major league veteran Jake Odorizzi (L, 0-2) lasted 1 1/3 innings and just 26 pitches in his second start since joining the Tampa Bay Rays’ organization. Odorizzi permitted three runs on two hits, a walk and hit batter in the second inning before departing after a visit from his manager Morgan Ensberg and athletic trainer Kris Russell.

The Bulls (3-6) were stymied for four innings by Jacksonville starter Braxton Garrett, who was making a major league rehab start for the Miami Marlins. Down 3-0 in the fifth, the Bulls mounted a rally thanks to a solo homer by Niko Goodrum to centerfield, later followed by a run-scoring single from Ronny Simon. Garrett permitted three hits and two runs across 4 1/3 frames, fanning five.

The game remained 3-2 until the Jacksonville (5-4) seventh inning when Otto Lopez converted with a run-scoring single after a leadoff triple by Jose Devers.

Six Durham relievers combined to limit the Shrimp to five hits and one run over the final 7 2/3 innings.

The Bulls dropped the series to Jacksonville 4-games-to-2 and head out on a two-week road trip beginning Tuesday night against the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs at 6:45 PM ET.
