Motter Earns IL Batter of the Week Honor

Infielder/Outfielder leads Bulls to 6-0 week to earn award
August 1, 2016

DURHAM, NC - The International League announced that Durham Bulls infielder/outfielder Taylor Motter was named the league's Batter of the Week for the week of July 25-31. The 26-year-old hit .412 (7-for-17) for the Bulls, leading the team to a perfect 6-0 homestand that saw the squad vault in to first place in the IL South Division.

Four of Motter's seven hits on the week went for extra bases, as he launched a pair of home runs and laced two doubles. The Coastal Carolina University's eight RBI were tied for the league lead in that span, while his walk-off single in Saturday night's game extended Durham's winning streak to five. Motter finished the week in a big way on Sunday, going 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI to lead the Bulls to their sixth straight victory.

The Batter of the Week honor marks the second time the Florida native has earned the award, after taking home the honor in July of 2015 with Durham. The 2015 IL Midseason and Postseason All-Star is the third Bulls player to be named IL Batter of the Week this season, joining Richie Shaffer (4/7-4/10) and JP Arencibia (7/14-7/17).
