Opening Day, LEGO Weekend Highlight Season Opener

The defending Triple-A National Champion Durham Bulls will open up the 2018 season with a promotion-filled homestand on April 5 with Opening Day. In addition to the season-opening festivities, two fireworks shows, a LEGO display, Meet the Team event and Bark in the Park highlight the promotional schedule.
The seven-game stanza kicks off with Opening Day on Thursday, April 5 against the Charlotte Knights. The 6:05 p.m. contest presented by ARS Rescue Rooter will feature a special entrance by Wool E. Bull, and will highlight the team's 2017 Triple-A National Championship. Additionally, the contest will be followed by a fireworks spectacular, and when leaving the stadium fans will receive a 2018 magnet schedule courtesy of PSNC Energy and NC 811.
The four-game series against the Chicago White Sox' top affiliate continues on April 6 at 7:05 p.m. presented by Foothills Brewing. The Friday night contest will feature the season's first Food Truck Friday, as local food trucks American Meltdown and Rolling Bistro will be on-hand. Further, the game will be proceeded by a Friday Night Fireworks show, presented by bioMerieux.
**UPDATE: Immediately following Friday night's game, returning members of the Bulls' 2017 Triple-A National Championship team will receive their championship rings in an on-field ceremony. Originally scheduled for April 7, the change in time and date is based off Saturday's forecast.
On Saturday, April 7 at 6:35 p.m. the teams will meet in a contest presented by Carolina Packers. That night is the first of a two-day LEGO Weekend experience at the DBAP, as the stadium's Diamond View concourse will be transformed into a LEGO play place. The display, which will be available to fans on Saturday and Sunday, will feature hands-on activities including different games and challenges.
The four-game series against the Knights comes to a close at 5:05 p.m. on Sunday, April 8. In addition to the LEGO Weekend activities, there will be a Meet the Team event prior to the contest. Gates will open at 3 p.m., and fans will have the chance to take photos, get autographs and play games with Bulls players and coaches from 3:15 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. After the contest, children get to show off their speed by rounding the DBAP bases with Kids Run the Bases presented by Nature's Twist.
The season-opening homestand continues on Monday, April 9 at 7:05 p.m. against the Gwinnett Stripers, formerly called the Braves. The series between the Bulls and Atlanta Braves' Triple-A affiliate continues on Tuesday, April 10 at 1:05 p.m. in the season's first day game.
The homestand comes to a close against the Stripers on Wednesday, April 11 at 7:05 p.m. with the season's first Bark in the Park event presented by Banfield Pet Hospital. Fans can bring their dogs to the DBAP that evening, with human tickets costing $7.99 plus tax, and canine tickets costing $5 plus tax with all proceeds benefiting Second Chance Pet Adoptions. Prior to the game fans are encouraged to bring their furry friend on to the field for a pregame dog parade, which will begin at 6:20 p.m. behind Section 122.
