Over parts of two seasons with Durham, Criswell compiled a 6-5 record and 4.01 ERA (54 ER/121.1 IP), adding 113 strikeouts compared to 29 walks in 34 regular season outings (20 starts). He was part of the 2022 Triple-A National Championship squad that won in Las Vegas, firing three shutout frames in the International League Championship Game on October 1 versus Nashville. This season he tossed two scoreless innings in Game 1 of the International League Championship Series at Norfolk.

The 27-year-old was claimed off waivers by the Tampa Bay Rays from the Los Angeles Angels organization on July 13, 2022. He was originally selected by the Angels in the 13th round of the 2018 MLB Draft out of the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill. Criswell's father, Tim, also played for the Bulls as a catcher during the 1986-87 seasons, combining for a .266 average (144-541), adding 67 runs, 20 doubles, three triples, three homers and 57 RBI over 172 games.

Across two seasons with Tampa Bay, Cooper Criswell accumulated a 1-1 record and 5.45 ERA (36.1 IP) over 11 outings (one start), adding 31 strikeouts compared to 12 walks. He made his Major League debut with Los Angeles during the 2021 campaign.

Durham begins their 2024 campaign on the road in Norfolk on Friday, March 29, before starting their home slate at Durham Bulls Athletic Park on Tuesday, April 2 against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp.
