The El Paso Chihuahuas batted around in two different innings Friday night and beat the Albuquerque Isotopes 14-9 at Southwest University Park. The teams have split the first four games of the series.

Albuquerque’s Warming Bernabel hit an inside-the-park home run to lead off the top of the fourth inning, Albuquerque’s first inside-the-park homer since Wynton Bernard on July 25, 2023 in a home game against Sacramento. It was the 14th inside-the-park home run ever against the Chihuahuas and the third this season. Albuquerque’s Julio Carreras hit a grand slam in the top of the eighth, the first grand slam against the Chihuahuas since Sacramento’s Hunter Bishop hit one in El Paso on April 25. El Paso designated hitter Trenton Brooks went 3-for-4 with three doubles and three RBIs. It was the first time an El Paso player had three doubles in a game since Clay Dungan on May 14 at Las Vegas. The three doubles moved Brooks’ total to 20, two shy of Yonathan Perlaza’s league-leading 22.

First baseman Tim Locastro went 2-for-3 with a walk and a hit by pitch and has reached base eight times in the last two games. Locastro also has stolen bases in back-to-back games and is nine for 11 in stolen base attempts this season. El Paso’s 18 hits Friday set a new season high. Harold Chirino pitched two scoreless relief innings for the Chihuahuas and leads the league with 25 appearances.
