EL PASO – August 25, 2026 – Outfielder Dustin Harris has been selected by the San Diego Padres.
The 27-year-old joined El Paso shortly after signing with the Padres organization as a free agent on July 8, 2026. Since his first game with the Chihuahuas on July 12, Harris ranks among the Pacific Coast League leaders in numerous offensive categories, including 2nd in hits (42), tied 3rd in triples (3) and stolen bases (10), 4th in total bases (74), 5th in extra-base hits (17) and slugging (.617), 6th in OPS (1.039), 7th in batting average (.350) and RBI (26), and tied 8th in runs scored (25).
He recorded 14 multi-hit performances in 29 games with the Chihuahuas. On July 28 against the Albuquerque Isotopes, Harris hit an inside-the-park home run, marking the 12th in franchise history and the second this season (other: Jase Bowen). He also hit a home run in three straight days from July 30 to August 1 against the Isotopes and totaled four home runs in the series.
Harris unleashed a pair of four-hit games with El Paso. The most recent was on July 31 against Albuquerque, when he batted 4-for-5 with a double, a home run, and two RBI.
From July 30 to August 22, the Florida native reached base in 17 straight games, batting .400 (30-for-75) with 15 extra-base hits, including five home runs, and 22 RBI. Harris boasted a .458 on-base percentage during his on-base streak.
Harris is coming off a dominant series against the Round Rock Express, where he batted .500 (8-for-16) with nine RBI in four games.
Harris was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the 11th round of the 2019 MLB Draft out of St. Petersburg College. He has previously played in MLB with the Texas Rangers, Chicago White Sox, and Houston Astros.
The Chihuahuas’ 2026 season continues Tuesday, August 25, as the El Paso Chihuahuas (15-35, 50-75) take on the Oklahoma City Comets (29-21, 70-54).
