Akron plated two more in the third inning. The first scored on Chase DeLauter’s first Double-A home run. The solo shot made it 3-0. After a single and a walk, Joe Lampe’s RBI double scored a fourth.
The RubberDucks added tack-on runs in the seventh and eighth against Andrew Magno and Trevin Michael. In the seventh, DeLauter scored Kahlil Watson on a sacrifice fly after Watson had tripled. Kody Huff had an RBI single in the eighth to make it 6-0.
Erie hitters managed four hits. They went 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position.
Akron starter Ryan Webb (1-0), who tossed five scoreless frames, earned the win. Melton (0-1) took the loss.
