After going 3.2 innings without a base runner, Erie's response came against New Hampshire starter,
Wentz hurled three more scoreless innings as Erie added the deciding run in the fifth.
The Fisher Cats drew within one in the seventh, all with two outs and the bases cleared.
In his Erie debut, Wentz (1-0) twirled five innings and allowed one earned run on four hits while striking out six and walking two.
Pearson took the loss (0-4) after surrendering all three earned runs on six hits in five innings. He retired 11 in a row to begin the game.
