Faedo Deals to Pick Up First Win

RICHMOND, Va.----Alex Faedo powered his way through seven scoreless innings to propel the Erie SeaWolves to a 2-0 shutout win over the the Richmond Flying Squirrels at The Diamond Monday.
The SeaWolves punched the first run across in the sixth inning on Conner Menez. Danny Woodrow singled to lead the inning off, then moved to second on a Sergio Alcántara groundout. The rightfielder stole third base, and then Daz Cameron smacked a grounder into left for an RBI single.
Woodrow would score again in the eighth for Erie. With Olbis Parra now on the mound, Woodrow legged out a bunt single and advanced to second on a Ali Castillo throwing error. Alcantara cranked an RBI single into right, and the Wolves scored their final run of the game.
Faedo ended the day with a season-high 7.0 IP, allowing only three hits and one walk while fanning four batters. Navilohn tossed a scoreless eighth with a strikeout for the SeaWolves, while John Schreiber hurled a scoreless frame of the ninth en route to his 11th save.
Menez (3-2) dropped a loss after surrendering only one run through seven innings pitched while striking out a season-high nine batters. Faedo (1-0) picked up his first AA win, and the SeaWolves have now completed 10 shutouts this season.
Erie (44-49) returns to The Diamond for game two against Richmond (45-47). The SeaWolves' LHP Liarvis Breto (2-2, 2.42 ERA) will throw against the Flying Squirrels' RHP Jake McCasland (2-2, 3.38 ERA) at 6:35 PM.
