The SeaWolves' (31-37) comeback came up short in game one of the double header, as New Hampshire defeated Erie 5-3.
New Hampshire scored their first run in the second inning on Beau Burrows thanks to a RBI single from Gunnar Heidt.
Jon Berti ripped in two more runs on Burrows in the fifth inning on a single to elevate the lead to 3-0.
The Wolves clawed their way back in the sixth inning to tie the game up at 3-3. After a Jake Robson single and a Will Maddox double, Dominic Ficociello smacked in a run on a single of his own. Kody Eaves followed with a RBI single to make it 3-2, and then Josh Lester hit in to a double play that invited the tying run to score.
The SeaWolves failed to walk it off in the seventh, which allowed a big top of the 8th for New Hampshire. Jonathan Davis and Berti both bunted to load up the bases, setting up Cavan Biggio to drive in two on a hard hit single to center.
John Schreiber (0-4) took the loss after pitching for 1.1 and allowing one earned on three hits. Danny Young improved to 2-0 on the season after blowing the save, and Dusty Isaacs gathered his first save on the season after pitching a scoreless 8th.
Beau Burrows surrendered two earned on three hits in 5.0 IP while walking two with two strikeouts in a no-decision effort.
