SeaWolves Fall in Extras to Senators

The SeaWolves dropped the series opener to the Harrisburg Senators, 5-3, in 11 innings on Monday night at UPMC Park.
Harrisburg jumped ahead in the top of the first inning against Erie starter Sandy Baez when Yadiel Hernandez homered to left with two outs for a 1-0 lead.
Erie tied the game in the last of the first against Harrisburg starter Wirkin Estevez. Jacob Robson led off with a single and moved to third on a Kody Eaves base hit. Robson scored on a sacrifice fly, tying the game 1-1.
The Senators regained the lead in the in the fifth when Osvaldo Abreau homered to left for a 2-1 advantage.
The SeaWolves tied the game once again in the last of the sixth. Eaves led off with a walk and advanced to third on a pair of groundouts. Eaves scored on an error by the first baseman Drew Ward, tying the game.
Baez exited after six innings and took a no-decision. He allowed two runs on three hits with four walks and six strikeouts in six innings of work.
Extevez also left after six with a no-decision allowing two runs, one earned, on three hits with two walks and six strikeouts.
The game remained tied into the 10th inning. With the free runner Abreau at second against reliever Mark Ecker, Zach Collier laid down a sacrifice bunt to move Abreau to third. Ecker retired Daniel Johnson for the second out. Kelvin Gutierrez then singled to left, scoring Abreau for a 3-2 lead.
Erie tied the game in the last of the 10th against reliever Jeff Ames. With the free runner A.J. Simcox on second, Sergio Alcántara laid down a sacrifice bunt to move the tying run to third. Simcox scored on a two-out wild pitch, tying the game and sending it to the 11th.
In the top of the 11th, the Senators put the game away against Erie reliever Gerson Moreno. Hernandez was the free runner on second and he moved to third on a Moreno wild pitch. Dan Gamache singled home Hernandez for a 4-3 lead. Gamache scored on a two-out wild pitch for a 5-3 advantage.
The SeaWolves went quietly in the bottom of the 11th against reliever Derek Self who earned his second save.
Ames (1-0) earned the win allowing an unearned run in an inning of work.
Moreno (0-1) took the loss allowing two runs, one earned, on two hits with no walks and no strikeouts in an inning of work.
The SeaWolves and Senators meet in the middle game of the series on Tuesday night at UPMC Park at 6:05 p.m. Righty Spencer Turnbull (0-3, 6.00 ERA) takes the mound for Erie against RHP Brady Dragmire (2-1, 2.89 ERA).
Tuesday is the first Bark at the Park night. All well-behaved leashed dogs receive free admission. It's also Two-Buck Tuesday and Kids Eat Free. Fans 21 and older can enjoy $2 drink specials in the Bud Light Beer Garden through the sixth inning. The first 250 kids, ages 12 and under, receive a voucher for a free Smith's hot dog, Utz chips and Pepsi fountain drink.
