Drew Jackson wins Player of the Month

AquaSox shortstop has also won two Player of the Week awards
September 4, 2015

AquaSox fans have known that shortstop Drew Jackson was a special talent for awhile now, but that was confirmed when he was named the Northwest League Player of the Month for August by Minor League Baseball. Jackson hit .417 in August, and got on base in more than half of his at bats with a .505 on-base percentage.

The 22-year-old Northwest League All-Star also stole 20 bases in 22 attempts in August, nine more than any other player in the league. Selected as a fifth-round pick out of Stanford by the Mariners in June, Jackson led the league in batting average, runs scored, hits, steals, on-base percentage and OPS last month.

Jackson's success hasn't been limited to last month, though. He leads the league in batting average (.367), runs scored (63), on-base percentage (.438) and steals (47). The Orinda, California, native also won Northwest League Player of the Week twice - the week of July 20-27, and Aug. 3-10.

Former AquaSox outfielder, and current Tacoma Rainier Jabari Blash was named the Pacific Coast League Player of the Month. Blash hit the most home runs in professional baseball in August, taking 14 balls out of the park (Nelson Cruz had 12). Blash also led the Pacific Coast League in total bases (75), extra-base hits (18), RBI (27), slugging percentage (.750) and OPS (1.131).
