Fayetteville, NC - The Fayetteville Woodpeckers (58-53, 26-20 2nd Half) were unable to complete the series sweep of the Fredericksburg Nationals (68-45, 22-25 2nd Half) on Sunday afternoon, falling behind big and dropping the contest 11-2 to close the week at home.

The Woodpeckers held one brief lead after scoring the first run of the game in the bottom of the first inning. Waner Luciano reached on a fielding error and scored on a Ben Tryon double down the left field line for the 1-0 advantage. Tryon, the 17th round pick out of Dallas Baptist, had a big week at the plate in his debut series, going 7-for-14 with a double, HR, 5 RBI and 3 runs scored.

Rafael Ramirez Jr. tied the game with a solo homer off Jank Pichardo (L, 0-2) in the top of the second inning and was Fredericksburg main offensive engine through the game. He went deep again off Pichardo in the top of the fourth in a three-run frame that stretched the FredNats lead to 6-1.

Ramirez Jr. drove in two more with a single in the top of the fifth and capped a six-RBI day win with a single in the top of the ninth that made it 11-2.

The Woodpeckers will be off on Monday before heading to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on Tuesday for the start of a six-game road series against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. First pitch on Tuesday night is scheduled for 7:05 PM with starting pitchers TBD.
