On This Veteran's Day

Ceremonial Flag is Available Throughout 2017 Season
November 11, 2016

On this Veteran's Day as the United States of America celebrates and honors the service of all United States military veterans, the Reading Fightins and Savage 61 Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram are proud to continue the Ceremonial Flag throughout the 2017 season.

The inclusion of all veterans and active duty military members add to a ceremony that has previously paid tribute to living World War II veterans and fallen veterans of all wars in the past three seasons. Now, all active military and veterans, both living and that have passed, can continue to be honored at each home game during a pre-game ceremony beside their family and friends. During the ceremony, the Fightins will tell each story and explain that the American Flag flying in front of America's Classic Ballpark, FirstEnergy Stadium, for that game is in honor of that specific person. Following the game, the Fightins will present the veteran or military member with the Ceremonial Flag as a taken of appreciation for that they have done in protection of the United States of America.

In addition to being honored, the veteran or military member will also receive complimentary tickets for them and their family thanks to Savage61 Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram. Reservations for the Ceremonial Flag will be taken for the 2017 season beginning today. Those interested can call 610-370-BALL to reserve a date. Anyone interested in honoring a veteran or military member is asked to call the Fightins office with their preference of a game date. Available game dates are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. The Fightins thank Savage 61 for sponsoring this and all of the Fightins military programs during the 2017 season.

For the past three seasons, the Fightins honored living World War II veterans and fallen veterans of all wars during a pre-game ceremony by flying a Ceremonial Flag near the giant dog tags at the main entrance to honor a specific veteran each home game. Before each home game, the Fightins raised a ceremonial flag to tribute to their memory and welcomed their family to the game. The flag was then lowered and given to the family following the game.

Season tickets for the 2017 season are available online at Fightins.com, by phone at 610-370-BALL, and in-person at FirstEnergy Stadium. Follow the Fightin Phils on Twitter at @ReadingFightins and like them on Facebook via www.facebook.com/fightins.
