FREDERICK, MD –Baltimore Orioles pitchers and catchers reported this past Tuesday, signaling the start of Spring Training. Opening Day will soon arrive filled with the sights and smells of baseball, but before that first pitch there are several key dates to look out for.
Over the next week, the team will begin their full squad workouts with their first Spring Training game set to take place on Friday, February 20 against the New York Yankees. First pitch is set for 1:05 p.m. at Ed Smith Stadium at the Orioles spring training complex in Sarasota, Florida.
During Grapefruit League play, the Spring Training league the Orioles participate in, they will take on several divisional rivals including the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, Tampa Bay Rays, and Toronto Blue Jays. Additionally, they’ll face off against the Pittsburgh Pirates, Atlanta Braves, and Detroit Tigers all within the first week of action in the Sunshine State.
On Tuesday, March 3, Baltimore is set to host the Netherlands for an exhibition game due to the World Baseball Classic beginning on Thursday, March 5. First pitch for the Netherlands vs. Orioles game is at 1:05 p.m. and will be their lone exhibition game prior to the classic. With several current Orioles players participating in the tournament throughout the month of March, it will serve as a great preview for the talent and competitiveness of the 2026 roster.
The spring training schedule caps off with the Spring Breakout game on Friday, March 20, when the top Orioles and Red Sox prospects will compete against one another. First pitch from Ed Smith Stadium is set for 6:05 p.m.
All these games and scrimmages lead to the Orioles Opening Day which is set for Thursday, March 26 at 3:05 p.m. in Camden Yards. The Keys meanwhile will take the field for the first time in 2026 on Friday, April 3 when they travel to Spartanburg, South Carolina to take on the Hub City Spartanburgers (High-A Rangers), as they return to affiliated baseball for the first time in six seasons.
Watch these and more future stars as the Frederick Keys make their return to affiliated baseball next season as the High-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. The first home game will take place on Tuesday, April 14 at 7 p.m. against the Hudson Valley Renegades (Yankees) at the newly renovated Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium. Single-game tickets and the promotional schedule will be released at a later date.
