MOOSIC, PA. - The Indianapolis Indians jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the fourth inning, but the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders scored seven runs in the fifth to win on Tuesday night, 7-3. The game was halted with the RailRiders still batting in the fifth due to heavy rain.

Indianapolis (65-55) scored first with a big two-out swing in the fourth. Ryan Lavarnway led off the frame with a double to right field, and Wyatt Mathisen was later hit by a pitch. With two outs and down to his last strike in the at-bat, Jerrick Suiter clubbed his second homer of the season to right field.
The lead was washed away in the bottom of the fifth before the rain picked up and halted the game. The inning began with four straight singles for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (62-56). Ryan McBroom had given SWB the lead with a single of his own, but it was Mike Ford who put the RailRiders ahead for good. He clubbed a three-run homer to right field to seal the game's final margin.
While it was raining throughout the bottom of the fifth, it transitioned to heavy rain after the home run and the game was halted and eventually deemed final. Tuesday's contest was originally set to be a doubleheader, but the challenging weather moved the second game to the series finale on Wednesday evening.
Nick Kingham (4-2) cruised through four innings but was on the mound in the fifth and was handed the loss.
Wednesday's doubleheader with the RailRiders will get underway at 5:05 p.m. The Indians are on the road until Tuesday, August 21. To purchase tickets for any Indians home game, contact the Victory Field Box Office at 317-269-2282 or [email protected]. For more on the Tribe, visit IndyIndians.com.
