INDIANAPOLIS - The Indianapolis Indians have led Minor League Baseball in attendance once again, welcoming 641,141 fans to Victory Field during the 2017 season. This is the second consecutive year the Tribe have led the 160 United States-based teams in MiLB and the third time in the past five seasons. The Indians also led MiLB in average attendance this past season, with 9,159 fans per game.

"We're very grateful the Indianapolis and central Indiana communities continue to support us year in and year out," said Randy Lewandowski, Indians president and general manager. "There are so many wonderful options for entertainment in our city, but there's something special about a baseball game at Victory Field in downtown Indianapolis. Our staff's commitment to providing a first-class experience is unmatched, and we see that in achievements like this."
Indians game attendance increased by approximately 5,000 fans over last season and did so in one fewer game (70 in 2017, 71 in 2016), due to postponements and league scheduling adjustments. The Tribe have either led MiLB in attendance or set franchise records for attendance in each of the past five seasons.
New at Victory Field this year, a larger HD video board and ribbon boards lining the stadium, plus a fully digital audio system, provided an upgraded gameday experience. A suite renovation project is on tap for 2018, marking the second major improvement to the facility in as many offseasons.
"We're thrilled to be on top of the MiLB attendance list again this season," said Bruce Schumacher, Indians chairman of the board and CEO. "We received positive feedback all year long on our new video boards and upgraded sound system, and we will continue investing in Victory Field to ensure a memorable gameday experience."
The Tribe are not done this season, however, as playoff baseball returns to the Circle City this weekend. The Indians play a first round best-of-five series against the Durham Bulls starting Wednesday, September 6 in Durham, N.C. The series comes to Victory Field for Game 3 on Friday, September 8 and continues Saturday night and Sunday afternoon, if necessary.
First pitch Friday night is set for 7:15 p.m. The first 1,000 fans through the Victory Field gates get an Indians playoffs t-shirt, and fans are invited to stick around after the game for a fireworks display overlooking the downtown skyline. Plus, concession stands at each Indians playoff game will offer the popular Dollar Menu, with hot dogs, peanuts, Cape Cod Potato Chips, Cracker Jack and popcorn available for just $1 each.
