INDIANAPOLIS - The Indianapolis Indians have a new official team physician. As part of a three-year agreement, Franciscan Health will be the players' medical provider at all home games and for consultations throughout the season.

"This partnership is a win-win for both organizations," said Indianapolis Indians President and General Manager Randy Lewandowski. "Franciscan's expertise is known throughout the region, so we're excited to have their providers at our fingertips. Our players will benefit from their high level of access and quality of care."
Led by Dr. Philip Blaney, the Franciscan team will have a sports medicine doctor at Victory Field for every Indians game. In addition, Franciscan will be available to consult with trainers and facilitate same day or after hours care to ensure players receive the care they need while minimizing their time away from the diamond.
Players will also have access to Franciscan CityWay. Franciscan's downtown Indianapolis location combines the strength of the health network's primary care with sports medicine, physical therapy and orthopedic specialties.
"This is a wonderful opportunity for our hospital and sports medicine team," said Blaney, who is board-certified in sports medicine and family medicine and a member of Franciscan Physician Network. "The Indianapolis Indians are a long-established sports entity, and we look forward to joining their lineup on Opening Day in April."
The Indianapolis Indians open their season on Friday, April 6 at 7:15 p.m. when they host the Columbus Clippers. For Opening Night only, the Tribe are once again offering their 60 Degree Guarantee. If the temperature at first pitch is below 60 degrees, every fan in attendance gets a ticket to another April game of their choice. Plus, fans can stay in their seats after the game for postgame fireworks.
Single game tickets are now on sale. For more on the Tribe, visit IndyIndians.com.
