San Bernardino, CA - On May 25, 2019, the Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino will rebrand for one night only and transform in to the California Burritos.
The California Burrito is a staple around Inland Empire and Southern California Mexican restaurants. The burrito is a spin on a classic carne asada burrito that includes meat, guacamole, cheese, and the special ingredient: French fries. The Inland Empire 66ers will celebrate this iconic Inland Empire burrito by rebranding the team for one night as the California Burritos complete with on field jerseys and caps.
"Growing up in the Inland Empire, California Burritos were always a go to. So, we found a unique and fun way to tie it in to Minor League Baseball," expressed General Manager Joe Hudson, "and who doesn't love a good burrito!"
In addition to the rebrand on field, the team will invite a 4-5 different Mexican restaurants from around the Inland Empire to serve California Burritos at the game as well as compete for the rights to claim the best California Burrito in the Inland Empire. Fans in attendance will also have their chance to claim some fame with a 5lb burrito eating contest.
Fans will have the opportunity to order their own California Burritos merchandise with pre-orders on the hat beginning on Wednesday, May 8th. The hat and other merchandise will be available May 25th and continue to be sold in store throughout the season while supplies last. The California Burrito game worn jerseys will be auctioned off at the conclusion of the game May 25th, to benefit the 66ers Foundation and their efforts to support Inland Empire youth.
