Since 1866, the game of baseball has had a rich tradition rooted in the heart of Des Moines, the capital city of Iowa. This collection honors the history of Des Moines and baseball's role in it. Principal Park resides at the meeting point of the Des Moines River and the Raccoon River, the city’s two major rivers. This meeting point, known as a confluence, marks the site of the original Des Moines settlement and represents the place where the city first began to grow.
Three bridges stretch across the Des Moines River, physically connecting neighborhoods and communities on both sides of the water. In many ways, those bridges represent the same spirit as the game of baseball, bringing people together, creating shared experiences, and connecting generations of fans.
This collection draws inspiration from that history of connection while also celebrating Des Moines as Iowa’s capital city. The Iowa State Capitol, with its iconic gold dome, rises above the downtown skyline and serves as the beautiful backdrop to Sec Taylor Field at Principal Park. Subtle design elements throughout the uniform pay tribute to both the city’s history and its role as the heart of Iowa.
We will take the field as the Capital City Cubs every Saturday throughout the season (excluding Saturday, June 27)! Get your tickets or shop merchandise below.
Inspired by Des Moines, navy reflects the city's rivers and flag, while gold honors the Capitol's iconic dome. The combination creates a bold, timeless look that celebrates both the city's history and its role as the heart of Iowa.
A fan-favorite look reimagined, the navy pinstripe jersey gives a fresh identity to a classic design. A timeless script "Des Moines" wordmark connects the team to the city it has called home for decades, while gold sleeve bands pay tribute to the Capitol's iconic dome.
The hat carries the same navy and gold color scheme as the jersey and introduces a new logo treatment featuring DSM in bold block lettering. Designed to celebrate the city itself, it's a timeless piece that anyone can wear with pride as a representation of Des Moines and the community we call home.
This patch, located on the sleeve, continues the tribute to the Capitol with a design inspired by its iconic gold dome.
This patch reintroduces the Des Moines city flag in navy and gold, celebrating the city's rivers and bridges.
Appearing near the bottom of the hem, this patch features the 515 area code in Des Moines, another subtle nod to the city the Iowa Cubs call home.
