On the back of five home runs, the Iowa Cubs (3-3) defeated the Louisville Bats (4-2) by a 11-10 score tonight at Louisville Slugger field.
The I-Cubs got on the board in the first inning as Chas McCormick hit a three-run homer and James Triantos also homered giving Iowa a 4-0 advantage. In the second inning, Louisville cut the lead to 4-3.
Iowa scored another four-run third inning on a home run from Pedro Ramírez and a three-run shot from Christian Bethancourt to make it 8-3. Louisville scored a run in the bottom half of the third and added four in the fourth to tie the game at 8-8.
In the fifth, each team scored on a wild pitch to make it 9-9, but Bethancourt hit his second home run of the game in the seventh to give Iowa a 11-9 lead. The Bats cut the lead in the ninth to 11-10, but Iowa held on for the win.
Iowa will play at Louisville on Friday for the fourth of a six-game series with first pitch slated for 6:15 p.m. CT.
