The Iowa Cubs (44-63) scored a 5-3 win this afternoon over the Indianapolis Indians (53-57) in 10 innings at Victory Field.
The I-Cubs got on the board in the fourth inning as Ben Cowles singled home a run. The Indians scored a run in the bottom of the fourth and the sixth to take a 2-1 lead.
In the seventh, Hayden Cantrelle and Owen Ayers each singled home a run to make it 3-2, I-Cubs. Indianapolis scored a run in the bottom half of the frame to tie the game at 3-3.
Iowa scored two runs in the 10th on a run-scoring double from Ayers who then came in to score on a fielder’s choice. The I-Cubs held Indy scoreless in the bottom half of the 10th to hold on for the win.
Iowa will play at Indianapolis on Thursday for the third of a six-game series with first pitch slated for 5:35 p.m. CT.
