DURHAM, N.C.José Devers and Otto López each lashed three hits and the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp earned a series win with a 4-2 victory on Sunday over the Durham Bulls from Durham Bulls Athletic Park.

Jacksonville (5-4) opened up the scoring in the second. Tristan Gray walked and Dane Myers singled. After a ground out, Jhonny Pereda walked to load the bases. A passed ball allowed Gray to scamper home for the game’s first run. Durham (3-6) starter Jake Odorizzi (0-2) then yielded a bloop RBI double to left off the bat of Devers to make it 2-0. López then legged out a fielder’s choice to plate Pereda and add to the lead at 3-0.

The score remained that way until the fifth. Braxton Garrett, making a rehab start for the Jumbo Shrimp, had retired 11 in a row before ceding a home run to Niko Goodrum. A Ruben Cardenas double chased Garrett from the game, and two batters later, Ronny Simon notched an RBI single to pull the Bulls within 3-2. Garrett went 4.1 innings, giving up two runs on three hits with five strikeouts.

After Durham stranded the bases loaded in the sixth, Devers tripled to jumpstart the seventh. After a ground out, he scored on López’s RBI single to get the margin to 4-2.

Declan Cronin pitched 1.2 scoreless innings before ceding to Eli Villalobos (1-0), who struck out three in 2.0 perfect innings. Emmanuel Ramirez tossed a scoreless ninth for his second save.

Following Monday’s off day, Jacksonville returns home Tuesday for a 7:05 p.m. contest that begins a six-game series against the Charlotte Knights. LHP Patrick Monteverde (1-0, 5.40 ERA) makes the start for the Jumbo Shrimp. Coverage begins at 6:50 p.m. on Bally Live, MLB.tv, MiLB.tv, ESPN 690 AM and www.ESPN690.com.
