Dean records three hits for Jacksonville

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (11-13, 41-53) fell to the Chattanooga Lookouts (19-5, 61-33) by a 5-2 score in the fourth game of the five-game series at AT&T Field on Sunday evening.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (11-13, 41-53) fell to the Chattanooga Lookouts (19-5, 61-33) by a 5-2 score in the fourth game of the five-game series at AT&T Field on Sunday evening.

Jacksonville right-handed starting pitcher Chris Mazza (1-6) took the loss, allowing three runs on seven hits with two walks and a strikeout in his five innings of work. Lookouts right-handed starter Fernando Romero (8-6) earned the win, going five innings where he allowed two runs on six hits with three walks and six strikeouts. Paul Clemens worked the ninth inning in scoreless fashion to earn his second save for Chattanooga.
Jacksonville scored the game's first two runs in the first two innings. John Norwood started the scoring in the top of the first with an RBI single to give the Shrimp a 1-0 lead. Braxton Lee brought in another run in the top of the second when he reached on a fielder's choice to score Austin Dean to give Jacksonville a 2-0 lead.
The Lookouts responded with two outs in the bottom of the second. Travis Harrison tied the game with a two-run double to even the score 2-2, then Nick Gordon broke the tie with an RBI single to put Chattanooga in front 3-2.
After Romero's five innings, Lookouts reliever Ryan Eades turned in three scoreless innings where Jacksonville stranded a runner in scoring position each inning. Out of Jacksonville's bullpen, Tyler Higgins worked a scoreless sixth and seventh innings before Jeff Kinley allowed two Lookouts runs to put Chattanooga's lead to 5-2, which would be the final.
Jacksonville was held scoreless at the plate for the final seven innings, and the Jumbo Shrimp left 12 men on base, and hit 1-for-12 with runners in scoring position in the game. Austin Dean shined at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a run scored.
The Jumbo Shrimp and Lookouts will conclude their series with the fifth and final game of the five-game set at AT&T Field on Monday morning at 11:15 a.m. Right-handed pitcher Omar Bencomo (4-4, 4.38) will start for Jacksonville against Lookouts right-hander Felix Jorge (8-1, 3.14 ERA).
