JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Victor Mesa Jr. notched three hits, including a walk-off single, to give the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp a 4-3 win Tuesday over the Norfolk Tides in front of 6,360 fans at 121 Financial Ballpark.

After Norfolk (7-9) tied the game in the top of the eighth, Jacksonville (9-7) notched their first walk-off win of the season an inning later. With one out, Dane Myers doubled off Tides reliever Wandisson Charles (1-2) and scored on a base hit from Mesa Jr. for the Jumbo Shrimp’s fifth one-run win of the season.

After three scoreless frames, Jacksonville took the lead in the bottom of the fourth. Mesa Jr. (2) blasted a solo home run to give the Jumbo Shrimp a 1-0 lead.

Jacksonville extended their lead in the bottom of the fifth. Jonathan Davis reached on a fielder’s choice and two batters later, Jonah Bride doubled home Davis to increase the lead to 2-0.

In the sixth inning, Mesa Jr. singled with one out and Griffin Conine walked with two outs. With runners on first and second, Davis knocked a base hit to score Mesa Jr. for a 3-0 advantage.

Norfolk wiped away their deficit in the eighth. Coby Mayo was hit by a pitch and reached second on a wild pitch. Three batters later, Ryan McKenna singled to score Mayo to cut the lead down to 3-1. In the ensuing at-bat, Livan Soto (1) evened the game with a two-run blast.

Jumbo Shrimp starter Patrick Monteverde struck out six in 5.0 scoreless innings, scattering four hits and a walk.

Jacksonville faces off with Norfolk again in Wednesday’s 7:05 p.m. contest. RHP Darren McCaughan (0-2, 6.43 ERA) starts for the Jumbo Shrimp against Tides LHP John Means (0-1, 12.86 ERA). Coverage begins at 6:50 p.m. on Bally Live, MLB.tv, MiLB.tv, ESPN 690 AM and www.ESPN690.com.
