Hammerheads Announce 2017 Opening Day Roster

Jupiter, FL- The Jupiter Hammerheads have announced their 2017 opening day roster. The team is made up of 13 pitchers, 12 position players, while three players will begin the season on the DL.

The 2017 team will begin the season with 12 active players who saw action with the Hammerheads last season. They include pitchers Andy Beltre, Jorgan Cananerio, Esmerling De La Rosa, Steve Farnworth, Ben Holmes, Jeff Kinley, Jose Quijada, and Scott Squier. Jeff Brigham and Miguel Del Pozo, who also spent time with Jupiter in 2016, will begin the year on the Disabled List.

Infielders Justin Bohn, Brian Schales, Brad Haynal, outfielder Dexter Kjerstad, and catcher Rodrigo Vigil round out the remaining who suited up with the Hammerheads last season. Haynal will begin the year on the DL.

Rounding out the pitching staff is Ryan Beckman, Felipe Gonzalez, Cody Poteet, and Trevor Richards. Other position players include catcher Roy Morales, infielders Dustin Geiger, JJ Gould, Angel Reyes, Ty Washington, outfielders Kyle Barrett, Zach Sullivan, and Stone Garrett.

Garrett was the Marlins Organization Player of the year for the 2015 season while playing with Short Season Batavia. The 8th-ranked prospect in the system by MLB Pipeline and the 3rd-ranked position player, Garrett will begin the season in Jupiter after missing nearly three-months of the 2016 season with Greensboro.

The home opener is Thursday April 6th, when the Hammerheads will welcome the Ft. Myers Miracle to Roger Dean Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 PM.
