As the Kannapolis Intimidators approach their last season at their current ballpark before heading to Downtown Kannapolis in 2020, the front office has added Vince Marcucci (Mar-Cooch-E), who will serve as the team's Assistant General Manager. The 2019 season will be Marcucci's eighth season working in Minor League Baseball after spending three seasons with the Wilmington Blue Rocks (Kansas City, Advanced-A) and the last four seasons with the Trenton Thunder (Yankees, Double-A).
"I am thrilled to join the Intimidators organization and become a member of the Kannapolis community," Marcucci said. "The Intimidators are an organization primed for exponential growth thanks to the incredible vision and strategic plan from the City of Kannapolis. I can't wait to see what the future holds and to meet all of the amazing Kannapolis Intimidators fans this season."
A Woodstown, New Jersey, native, Marcucci attended West Virginia University where he majored in Sport Management and minored in Sports and Exercise Psychology.
With the Blue Rocks, Marcucci spent two seasons as a Marketing intern and one as a Community Affairs Assistant. After his three seasons in Wilmington, Marcucci made the move to Trenton, New Jersey, to be with the Trenton Thunder. With the Thunder, Marcucci served as a Ticket Account Sales Representative, Community Relations Manager, Director of Community Affairs and Director of Corporate & Community Affairs.
As the Director of Corporate and Community Affairs, Marcucci oversaw charitable programs and was the Executive Director of the Trenton Thunder's charity, the Grand Slam We Care Foundation. In addition, he managed the Thunder's relationships with six local chamber of commerce organizations.
While in Trenton, Marcucci served on the boards of Advancing Opportunities and United Way of Greater Mercer County. Advancing Opportunities is an organization that is one of New Jersey's best known and most trusted organizations for people with disabilities, with an unrivaled reputation for excellence, caring and innovation. United Way of Greater Mercer County is an organization that focuses on creating a vibrant and inclusive greater Mercer County whereby all can thrive.
Marcucci also served on the United Way's Strike Out Hunger Committee and was a member of the Princeton-Mercer Regional Convention & Visitors Bureau.
In addition, Marcucci was the 2018 Lower Bucks County Chamber of Commerce Young Professional of the Year and the Princeton Regional Chamber of Commerce October 2017 Champion for Business.
"As we enter an undoubtedly exciting new chapter for our ballclub, it has been a priority for me to start putting the pieces in place for a dynamic and innovative front office," President/General Manager Brian Radle said. "I have known Vince for years and have been beyond impressed with his professional and personal growth. He is one of the best young talents in Minor League Baseball. I'm thrilled to have him coming aboard and particularly in this role!"
