Richmond returns to CL with White Sox
CHICAGO (June 8, 2013) - The Kannapolis Intimidators promoted outfielder Josh Richmond to the Winston-Salem Dash, the Chicago White Sox Class A-Advanced affiliate, on Saturday. In a corresponding move, Juan Ramirez has been activated from the Disabled List. Richmond, who was hitting .375 (21-56) in 14 games at Class A Kannapolis, returns to the Carolina League where he spent the 2012 season with Myrtle Beach in the Texas Rangers organization.
Richmond, who turns 24 next week, hit safely in his last 10 games with Kannapolis and recorded at least one hit in 13 of 14 games with the Intimidators. He posted a .407 on-base percentage and .661 slugging percentage, hitting one home run, nine doubles and two triples with Kannapolis. The White Sox signed Richmond out of the independent Frontier League and assigned him to the Intimidators on May 24.
Richmond was originally drafted by the Rangers in the 12th round of the June 2010 draft out of the University of Louisville.
Ramirez was placed on the DL on May 28. He is batting .188 (6-32) with two RBI in eight games with Kanapolis.
The Intimidators are in Greensboro today to face the Grasshoppers (A, Marlins) at 7:00 p.m. in the second game of a four-game series.
