Most Anticipated Opening Homestand Kicks-Off Thursday

(Fort Mill, SC) - Headlined by Thirsty Thursday ™ with $2 beers and $1 sodas, a pre-game ceremony to reveal the All Knights Stadium Team, Country Music Recording Artist and Eight-Time Women's Wrestling Champion Mickie James, thrilling post-game Fireworks, a Knights Umbrella giveaway, and more,  the upcoming homestand at Knights Stadium is sure to have something for the entire family.

After a seven-game road trip to begin the season, the Charlotte Knights will officially open Knights Stadium for its 24th and final season on Thursday, April 11 for the club's much anticipated 2013 home opener. Gates open at 6:00 p.m. and the Knights will host the Gwinnett Braves in game one of their quick two-game series. Thursday's home opener caps off an exciting season at Knights Stadium, which will feature commemorative giveaways, legendary appearances, fun promotions, and more. 

Every Thursday at Knights Stadium is Thirsty Thursday ™, presented by Hickory Tavern. All fans can enjoy $1 sodas, while fans 21 and over can enjoy $2 beers.

Before the game, the Knights will reveal the All Knights Stadium, which is a compilation of the best players at each position in Knights Stadium history. Also during the on-field pre-game show, the Knights will introduce the first-ever Charlotte Knights Dance Team. The team's official name will be revealed for the first time.

Before first pitch of Thursday's game, the Gwinnett Braves and Charlotte Knights will be introduced to the fans with special "World Series" introductions. First pitch is set for 7:15 p.m. and all fans will receive a 2013 Magnet Schedule at the gates as they exit the stadium, courtesy of Carolina Dental.

On Friday, April 12, the Knights will once again open the Knights Stadium gates at 6:00 p.m. for game two of the series with the Gwinnett Braves. First pitch is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.

Each Friday this season, the Knights will commemorate the 24-year history of Knights Stadium with a special "Flashback Fridays" series. As part of the celebration, all Knights players will wear commemorative "throwback" 1990 jerseys during all 10 Friday games. The 1990 season was the first at Knights Stadium in Fort Mill.

This Friday, the Knights will welcome Country Music Recording Artist and Eight-Time Women's Wrestling Champion Mickie James to the ballpark for a special meet and greet with fans, a pre-game singing performance, and more. James, who is currently wrestling with TNA Impact Wrestling, is a native of Richmond, VA. Her new album "Somebody's Gonna Pay" is currently available on iTunes and will officially be released on May 7.

On Saturday, the Knights will welcome 2012 Baseball America Player of the Year Wil Myers and the Durham Bulls to Fort Mill for game one of a four-game series. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday and first pitch is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.

As with every Saturday home game in 2013, the Knights will light-up the sky with thrilling post-game fireworks, courtesy of BB&T Ballpark and News Talk 1110 WBT. Fans can oooh and ahhh at the biggest and best fireworks show in the Carolinas each Saturday night.

On Sunday, the Knights will continue the opening weekend celebration with a 2:15 p.m. game against the Durham Bulls. Gates open at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, which is "Family Day with the Knights", thanks to BB&T. The first 1,000 kids 12 and under will receive a Knights Umbrella, courtesy of Carolinas HealthCare System. After Sunday's game, all kids in attendance are welcome to "Run the Bases".

One night later, the Knights will play game three of their series against the Bulls at 7:15 p.m. with gates set to open at 6:00 p.m. Fans will want to bring their appetites on Monday as the Knights will serve delicious $1 hot dogs, courtesy of Hebrew National. Earlier this year, Knights Stadium's hot dogs were voted "best hot dogs" by My Carolina Town Magazine.

On Tuesday, April 16, Knights Stadium will hold its first of two special Education Day games with a special 11:15 a.m. first pitch. Knights Stadium is a "Bully-Free Zone" and Tuesday's game will provide an educational program for students who attend. Gates open at 10:00 a.m. and the Knights will conclude their four-game series with Durham before hitting the road for a quick two-game road trip. Education Days are presented by Duke Energy and Midrex Technologies.
