MEMPHIS, TN – The Memphis Redbirds took game four of a six-game series to the Durham Bulls at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park by the final score of 2-1 on Friday night.

Memphis starter Matthew Liberatore continued his dominance dating back to last Saturday’s seven-inning shutout performance. On Friday night, the left-hander tossed seven-plus innings and struck out seven batters without allowing a run.

Liberatore (3-2), who was named last week’s International League Pitcher of the Week, has now gone 17 innings without allowing a run. That streak is the Redbirds longest of the 2022 season.

Despite allowing his first earned run of the season in the bottom of the ninth inning, electric closer Jake Walsh nailed down his fifth save of the season.

On the offensive end, Memphis plated a pair of runs thanks to the long ball. With a solo shot in the top of the top of the fourth inning, catcher Ali Sanchez got the scoring started with his first homer of the season. Shortstop Evan Mendoza added what proved to be the game-winning home run in the top of the sixth inning, his third of the season and second of the series.

Through four games in Durham, the Redbirds lineup has blasted 11 home runs after going homerless for just the fourth time this season on Thursday night.

The Memphis Redbirds (12-10) return to Durham Bulls Athletic Park in Durham, North Carolina for game five of the six-game series on Saturday night at 5:35 p.m. CDT to take on the Durham Bulls (8-14) with the chance to win a series for the first time in 2022.
