Memphis drops game five of series with Norfolk 

Redbirds club three home runs in Saturday night loss to Tides

MEMPHIS, TN – The Memphis Redbirds continued a 12-game homestand with an 11-6 loss to the Norfolk Tides on Friday night at AutoZone Park.

For the fourth-straight game, shortstop Taylor Motter recorded a multi-hit effort. Tonight, Motter had an RBI single in the third inning and his first home run as a Redbirds in the bottom of the eighth. Motter now has driven in six on the series and holds a five-game hit streak.

First baseman Luken Baker and catcher Nick Raposo also added a home run in the loss. Baker’s came on a broken-bat blast that sailed 412 feet to left field, his league-leading 15th of the season. Raposo led of the bottom of the ninth inning with his first-career Triple-A home run.

Tommy Parsons gutted through his outing. The right-handed pitcher finished 5.0 innings despite allowing three solo home runs in the first inning. In total, Parsons allowed four runs on six hits, walked one and struck out six.

The Redbirds (26-24) return to AutoZone Park on Sunday, May 28 to conclude a 12-game homestand at 6:05p.m. CDT. You can find more information on upcoming promotions at AutoZone Park here.
