Redbirds close out May with Friday night loss to Sounds 

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Memphis Redbirds continued a six-game homestand with a 7-2 loss to the Nashville Sounds (Triple-A, Milwaukee Brewers) on Friday night at AutoZone Park.

The Memphis offense struggled against Nashville pitching until the eighth inning. The Redbirds recorded back-to-back hits to start the inning, including a double from designated hitter Nick Dunn. An RBI groundout and a sacrifice fly later, Memphis cut the deficit to 4-2. In the top of the ninth, the Sounds rallied for four runs of insurance to secure the win.

Dunn finished the day 2-for-3 with a double and run scored. First baseman Luken Baker reached base three times in a 1-for-2 night with two walks. Baker is now tied for the team lead with 26 walks this season. Second baseman Cesar Prieto also walked twice in the loss.

MLB Rehabbing Giovanny Gallegos tossed a 1-2-3 first inning on 10 pitches and struck out one. Originally scheduled starting pitcher Sem Robberse tossed 6.0 innings in relief. The right-handed pitcher allowed four runs on nine hits, walked none, struck out six and allowed three home runs.

The Memphis Redbirds return to AutoZone Park to continue a six-game homestand against the Nashville Sounds on June 1 with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m. CDT.
