MEMPHIS, TN – The Memphis Redbirds offense struggled to get going in the series finale, falling to the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp at AutoZone Park on Sunday night by a final score of 7-2.

In the bottom of the ninth, designated hitter Moises Gomez drilled his first career Triple-A home run to avoid the team’s third shutout of the season. On the night, the Memphis offense registered just four hits.

Starting pitcher Tommy Parsons pitched well aside from allowing four solo home runs. The right-handed pitcher tossed seven innings, allowed four runs on five hits and struck out four Jumbo Shrimp hitters.

Jacksonville clinched the series victory with Sunday’s win, taking four of the six games at AutoZone Park. The Redbirds will take on the Jumbo Shrimp once more this season, in Jacksonville the first full week of August.

The Memphis Redbirds (43-35) next head to Durham, North Carolina to take on the Durham Bulls for a six-game series beginning on the Fourth of July.
