MEMPHIS, TN – The Memphis Turtles were shutout by the Indianapolis Indians 3-0 on Friday night at AutoZone Park. Four Indians pitchers kept Memphis to just two hits, their fewest hit total of the season.

Indianapolis took an early 2-0 lead thanks to a two-run homer from Carter Bins in the second inning. They would tally one more in the sixth inning after a Cal Mitchell triple and an RBI single from Kevin Padlo. On the pitching side, former Redbird Johan Oviedo started the game by posting two scoreless frames. Noe Toribio (3-1) and Cam Vieaux followed by tossing three shutout frames each. Eric Hanhold (S, 7) earned his second save of the series with a clean ninth inning.

Vieaux shut down the Redbirds’ best scoring opportunity in the bottom of the sixth. After Scott Hurst tripled and Evan Mendoza drew a walk, Vieaux entered the game, struck out a batter and then induced a ground-ball double play to end the threat.

Garrett Williams (0-3) was dealt the loss after allowing the two-run homer to Bins. He also struck out four batters in three innings.

The Memphis Redbirds (57-51) return to action at AutoZone Park on Saturday, August 13th against the Indianapolis Indians, (53-54) for game five of a six-game series. The Redbirds will be giving away an Adam Wainwright bobblehead to the first 1,500 fans, presented by Campbell Clinic. The bobblehead connects with a Yadier Molina bobblehead that will be given away on Friday, August 26. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. CDT.
