In 47 seasons of professional baseball in West Texas, the Cubs, Angels and RockHounds have had some very impressive nights "at the dish." Not many could have topped Saturday night's performance at Security Bank Ballpark, in which the RockHounds defeated the Frisco RoughRiders, 14-5.
The 'Hounds pounded out 23 hits (the 2018 Texas League high for non-extra-inning games) ... and did it in seven innings. A rain storm hit after Frisco batted in the top of the eighth and the game was not resumed.
The win was the clubs' fifth-in-a-row (5-0 in the current home stand) and the RockHounds are now 15-4 in their last 19 games.
Among the night's highlights:
The 'Hounds scored 13 of their 14 runs in the first four innings and had a (team) season high 20 hits after the first four frames.
The top four hitters in the batting order - -

I'm Not Tim Kurkjian Or Anything, Just Sayin' ...
Saturday night's offensive outburst included RBI in four straight at-bats for Seth Brown. The RockHounds first baseman now has 90 ribbies, just two behind
"Browny" also added to his Texas League-leading total with two doubles. He has 38 for the season, tying for 11th in franchise history, and moving past a couple of "pretty good players" - - Oakland A's first baseman
The Texas South Division was a "lumber company" Saturday night - - the RockHounds and RoughRiders combined for 19 runs on 28 hits and the San Antonio Missions and Corpus Christi Hooks combined for 20 runs on 22 hits. That's a total of 39 runs on 50 hits in two games!
