To join in on the fun, fans must download the STRAVA app, register and create an account, and join the "Modesto Nuts Intentional Walk Program". From there, fans want to record their activity to be able to be placed on the "Leaderboard". Fans have the chance to win goodie bags from Kaiser Permanente and one of a kind experiences from the Modesto Nuts.
"The Modesto Nuts are excited to begin this new partnership with Kaiser Permanente. Our players live a very active lifestyle, one that is hard to replicate. But it only takes one step to start a healthy/ active lifestyle; take your first step with our Intentional Walk Program." said Veronica Hernandez, Modesto Nuts, Director of Marketing and Promotions.
At John Thurman Field, fans can find different signs for the walking route while they're enjoying a baseball game. Fans who have the most miles recorded are eligible to win the different prizes each homestand.
"We have a responsibility to play a leading role in improving the health and well-being of our communities," said Deborah Pitts, Public Affairs Director for Kaiser Permanente in the Central Valley. "Kaiser Permanente is pleased to partner with the Modesto Nuts in support of healthy eating and active living."
There will be a "Walk Day", on Sunday, June 2nd, starting at 1pm. On this day fans will be encouraged to join in on the fun and activate their healthy living style while at John Thurman Field.
