MANCHESTER, NH – Right fielder Alexis Hernandez extended his 10-game hit streak, but the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (20-32, 54-65) fell on Tuesday at Delta Dental Stadium against the Hartford Yard Goats (19-33, 58-62), 8-2. Hernandez cracked three hits in the loss, including a two-run double in the fourth. Leading 3-2 into the eighth, the Yard Goats scored five in the final two innings to finish Tuesday’s game.
New Hampshire starter Austin Cates (L, 1-6) struck out seven batters but allowed three runs, two earned, and six hits in five innings. The right-hander has struck out at least six batters in four of his last five starts. Reliever Angel Obando fired two scoreless innings and right-hander Kelena Sauer gave up two runs in the eighth. In his first Double-A contest since last September, Devereaux Harrison allowed three runs in the ninth inning.
Hartford starter Stu Flesland III allowed two runs on four hits with four strikeouts in four innings. Right-hander Fisher Jameson shut down the Cats’ bats with three scoreless innings. Relievers Hunter Mann and Carlos Torres secured the final six outs of the ballgame.

With Tuesday’s contest tied at two in the fifth, Hartford scored the go-ahead run. Shortstop Andy Perez opened the inning with a ringing double. With a runner at second, a Jacob Humphrey single, coupled with an error, allowed Perez to score and made it 3-2.
It remained a one-run contest until the eighth inning when the Yard Goats scored two runs on a groundout and RBI double from Cole Messina. In the ninth, a two-run single from third baseman Dyan Jorge highlighted a three-run frame in which Hartford took an 8-2 lead.
New Hampshire’s Cates held the Yard Goats scoreless through the first three innings, but a pair of runs crossed in the fourth. Hartford loaded the bases on a single and pair of hit batters for third baseman Dyan Jorge who ripped an RBI single. Second baseman Raynier Hernandez followed with a sacrifice fly and made it 2-0.
New Hampshire responded in the bottom of the fourth inning. With one out, first baseman Dub Gleed singled and designated hitter Aaron Parker walked. Later, Hernandez mashed a two-run double and tied the game.
New Hampshire and Hartford continue their six-game series on Wednesday, August 26, with first pitch slated for 6:03 PM. Right-hander Danny Thompson Jr. (1-2, 2.94 ERA) will start for the Fisher Cats and the Yard Goats have yet to announce a starter.
