SAMUEL BASALLO Orioles top prospect and No. 13 prospect in the league by MLB.com is coming out the gates hot in Spring Training. Basallo is batting .429 (3-for-7) in five games, with a monster home run and two RBI. His solo shot in the seventh inning on Thursday, 2/27 vs. the Blue Jays helped propel the Orioles to an 11-8 win. According to The Baltimore Sun, his home run traveled just under 500 feet!

DYLAN BEAVERS A go-ahead two-run home run on Friday 2/28 at Minnesota was the icing on the cake in the Orioles eight-run ninth inning, and 13-10 come from behind victory in Fort Myers. Beavers is batting .375 (3-for-8) with a double, home run, and two RBI in four games this spring.

Who's Hot

DAZ CAMERON is batting .556 (5-for-9) with two doubles, three RBI, and a stolen base. He leads the Orioles in batting average after week one.

VIMAEL MACHÍN Went 3-for-3 on 2/23 at Philadelphia with a double, home run, and two RBI; and went 2-for-2 with two RBI and a stolen base on 2/28 at Minnesota. Has a .462 average in a team high seven games and 13 at-bats.

KYLE BRNOVICH struck out four batters over his 2.0 innings of work on 2/23 at Philadelphia. He struck out Justin Crawford looking, the son of former 4x MLB All-Star Carl Crawford.

RODOLFO MARTINEZ holds the 13th highest average velocity pitch among all pitchers in the Grapefruit League at 98.1 MPH on his four-seam fastball. His fastest of 101.1 MPH is the 7th-hardest pitch thrown in the league this spring

MAVERICK HANDLEY Batting .500 (3-for-6) with two doubles, two RBI, and a run scored so far. Recorded an RBI double and scored the game tying run in Baltimore’s eight-run ninth inning and comeback win at Minnesota on 2/28.

EMMANUEL RIVERA hit a two-run homer in the 2/22 Spring Opener vs. Pittsburgh. It was the O’s first homer of spring.

CADE POVICH made two starts this week, tossing 5.0 scoreless innings with seven strikeouts. He’s allowed only one hit and one walk, good for a 0.40 WHIP that ranks third in the Grapefruit League. Povich is one of four qualified pitchers to not allow an earned run this spring.

JUSTIN ARMBRUESTER has not allowed a hit in two games and 2.2 innings of relief. His only base runner allowed was a walk on 2/27 vs. Toronto. Armbruester has two strikeouts, one against Pirates prospect Termarr Johnson.

The Orioles’ Spring Training roster currently has 58 players (39 40-man players + 19 non-roster invitees).
