VIMAEL MACHÍN Entering today, is tied-for-fifth in the Grapefruit League in hits and leads the Orioles with 10 base knocks. Making it to Spring Training as a Non-Roster Invite, Machín is slashing .455 (10-for-22)/.500/.636/1.136 with a double, a home run, and five RBI in 12 games. Among players in the Grapefruit League with at least 24 plate appearances, he ranks third in average (.455). Machín was signed to a minor league deal by Baltimore on November 13, 2024 after spending last season in the Mexican League and 2023 in the Philadelphia Phillies’ system with their Triple-A affiliate, Lehigh Valley. Prior to that, he made his break into the bigs with the Athletics during the COVID-shortened 2020 season. A product of Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Machín continues to execell in Florida for the O’s.

LIVAN SOTO went 3-for-3 with an RBI and a stolen base in the 5-2 win at Minnesota on 3/5. Soto batted .400 (4-for-10) this week in four games. Soto recorded a hit in both of the O’s only two wins this week, both vs. Minnesota. He bounced around between Baltimore, Los Angeles (AL), and Cinncinati’s systems last season. He made it to Sarasota as a Non-Roster Invite this year and has played both shortstop and second base this spring.
