INTERNSHIPS: Assistant Director of Food and Beverage, Group Sales Account Representative, and Assistant Groundskeeper

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF FOOD AND BEVERAGE INTERNSHIP

Reports Directly To: Director of Food Service Responsible for assisting the Director of Food Services in ensuring that the Potomac Nationals provide an outstanding food and beverage product in a clean, courteous, efficient and safe manner. Individual must adhere to all local and state food and ABC regulations. Individual must be well organized, accurate, energetic, enthusiastic and creative.

Overall: Purchase, receive, inventory, warehouse, distribute, and control all products. Hire, train, schedule, and supervise all food service employees with corresponding payroll responsibilities.

Game Day Duties: Supervise and manage main concession stand, satellite concession stands, vendors and waitresses. Verify beginning and ending inventories and compare inventory to cash received for the particular game. Complete stand sheets and labor reports.

Other Duties: Assist with monthly inventories and cost of sales report. Sell advertising and ticket packages. Must be available to work long hours including all home games. Other duties as assigned by the Director.

Background:Prefer some related food service experience in a supervisory capacity. Individual must be self-motivated, have strong planning and organizational skills. Individual must also be a quick thinker and be able to make fast independent decisions. Must be familiar with personal computers especially working in a Windows environment.

GROUP SALES ACCOUNT REPRESENTATIVE INTERNSHIP

Reports Directly To: Director of Group Sales Responsible for contributing in the group ticket sales efforts of the Potomac Nationals baseball team. Individual must be well organized, energetic, enthusiastic and creative in becoming a large contributer to the group sales department. Main focus will be on securing groups for outings and picnics while providing excellent customer service to group leaders and all fans. Specific Responsibilities: Organize/Direct Sales Efforts: Sell group ticket packages to area businesses, schools, little leagues, churches, associations, other organizations, etc. Handle all aspects of customer service from point of sale to distribution and reconciliation of ticket and payments. Responsible for all direct mail and email marketing initiatives. Survey publications and periodicals for group ticket sales leads. Actively represent the Nationals at Chamber functions, business mixers, corporate events and other functions as directed. Assist in the creating of all applicable group sales marketing materials, such as brochures and proposals. Assist in the overall box office operation with various tasks as assigned by the Director of Ticket Operations or Group Sales Director. Group Sales Recordkeeping: Maintain group sales database of accounts with accurate information to ensure excellent customer service to existing customers and to ensure smooth coordination of sales efforts among the staff. Responsible for creating/maintaining ticket account records to increase future selling efforts. Actively seek to increase group database records. Produce and tabulate group surveys. Game Day Duties: To be determined. Duties may include overseeing entire picnic operation, the disbursement of group leader incentives, the collection of names from group attendees for future referrals, liaison with group ticket clients attending games; distribute surveys to group leaders in order to assure maximum entertainment. Other duties as assigned by General Manager.

Job Requirements: Experience in sales and management for a professional sports franchise, minor league baseball preferred but not recommended. Individual must be familiar with personal computers operating in the Windows environment. Individual must have strong planning and organizational skills and proven customer service skills. Individual must be a team player and able to demonstrate an initiative in completing their tasks.

ASSISTANT GROUNDSKEEPER

Job Description

The assistant groundskeeper will be involved in all aspects of the grounds day-to-day operation. These duties include, but not limited to: mound, plate, and bullpen clay repairs, infield skin work, fertilizer applications, mowing, edging, warning track maintenance, batting practice setup and break down, pre and post-game field maintenance. The assistant will be required to conduct tarp rolls and will be involved in supervision of game day staff.

Qualifications

Applicants should be a current 2 or 4-year college student or recent graduate, majoring in turfgrass management or related field of study. Applicants interested in sports field management are also encouraged to apply. Candidates must be self-motivated, hardworking, and willing to work long hours during home stands.

Compensation

There is a monthly stipend for this position, as well as opportunities to be compensated for other games and events on the field. Meals are provided on all home games. The position will start on March 4th, 2013.
