Pelicans Blast P-Nats 11-2

Woodbridge, VA --- The Potomac Nationals (58-47, 20-16) had their four game winning streak snapped at the hands of the Myrtle Beach Pelicans (64-43, 20-19) with an 11-2 loss on Monday night. The Pelicans put up six runs in the top of the second and did not look back from there.

Myrtle Beach cranked out 16 hits in their offensive outburst, including 14 off P-Nats starter RHP Dakota Bacus (L, 3-6). Bacus allowed 10 earned runs over 3.1 innings. RHP Brian Rauh came in to relieve Bacus and allowed one run with six strikeouts over 4.2 innings of work.All six runs in the second frame for the Pelicans came with two outs on six consecutive hits. The Myrtle Beach offense was out in full force. CF Chris Garia collected three RBIs on three base hits including a triple in the second. RF Royce Bolinger's home run in the eighth was one of three hits of his own. SS Edwin Garcia grabbed three single of his own in the contest, and 3B Nick Vickerson walked four times to go along with a pair of runs.

LHP Chad James (W, 2-1) allowed two runs on three hits with six walks over his five innings to earn the win. RHP Josh McElwee, LHP Cody Ege and RHP Abel De Los Santos took care of the final four innings by putting up zeros on the scoreboard.

The Nationals scored their two runs in the second on a two-out, two-RBI single by CF Isaac Ballou, but the P-Nats left 10 runners on base. Potomac was just 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position compared to Myrtle Beach's 7-for-11 effort.

The Potomac Nationals Baseball Network, which is accessible at www.potomacnationals.com, will broadcast the second game of a three game series against Myrtle Beach on Tuesday, July 29th. Broadcast coverage will begin with the P-Nats Leadoff Show at 6:50pm in preparation for the 7:05pm start. The P-Nats will send LHP Matthew Spann (7-4, 4.42) to the mound while the Pelicans will throw LHP Luis Parra (7-6, 5.27). Tuesday's game will be a Two-For-Tuesday presented by Logan's Sausage with general admission, reserved seating and hot dogs going for two for the price of one.
