The allure of Blue Wahoos Stadium continues its luster and acclaim among America’s top minor league ballparks.

The ballpark was named this week by MLB.com as the Miami Marlins’ top affiliate, minor league stadium of 2024 in a story titled “One Must-Visit Ballpark From Every Farm System.”

Blue Wahoos Stadium was one of six Double-A stadiums named among the 30 MLB teams’ top affiliate ballparks.

Here is what writers Benjamin Hill and Josh Jackson wrote about Blue Wahoos Stadium.

“Widely recognized as offering some of the best views in Minor League Baseball, Blue Wahoos Stadium is a gem right on Pensacola Bay, so cool that people pay to come even during the offseason -- you can rent it as an Airbnb

“Depending on when you visit, you might also catch the Blue Angels flight squadron practicing over the bay or participating in the famous Pensacola Beach Air Show. If you prefer to see baseballs soaring across the sky, well, you're in luck. The park features an open-air concourse and seating options to match any mood or budget.”

The Airbnb element, however, is currently not being offered at the stadium. In 2020, the year without Minor League Baseball due to the coronavirus, the Blue Wahoos created an Airbnb option and stirred national attention in a time when most stadiums were shuttered. The option was widely successful and featured on the NBC Today Show.

Blue Wahoos Stadium opened in 2012 and has received honors from a variety of publications as a three-time winner of Ballpark of the Year in the Southern League, the “Best View in Double-A,” a two-time winner of “Best Double-A Ballpark by Ballpark Digest and two-time “Best Experience,” Double-A” by Ballpark Digest.

In 2013, the stadium was named “Best Minor League Experience” by Stadium Journey.

Another first-time experience will occur on Tuesday-Wednesday (April 2-3) when Blue Wahoos Stadium hosts a pair of exhibition games with the Blue Wahoos playing the Monterrey Sultanes, a former 10-time championship team from the Mexican Professional League.

Both of these games begin at 6:05 p.m. and will feature a festive setting that honors Mexican culture with musicians, dancers and singers helping create a unique setting. There is a one-price ticket of $18 that includes a hot dog, soda and chips.

The Blue Wahoos begin their 2024 Southern League schedule on Friday (April 5) in a three-game series against the Mississippi Braves.

With its vistas and shining backdrop of Pensacola Bay, the stadium has a rare waterfront setting and the only one with the Gulf of Mexico as a backdrop.
