Rain Slows Sea Dogs in 5-2 Loss

Portland, Maine – The Portland Sea Dogs (33-32)(68-65) came up short in a rainy 5-2 loss against the Binghamton Rumble Ponies (34-31)(61-73) on Wednesday night.

LHP Hayden Mullins dealt his sixth straight start with one or fewer earned runs, allowing one in 6.0 innings pitched. Isaiah Jackson hit an RBI double in his Double-A debut. Mason White and Ronald Rosario also doubled. Henry Godbout collected his fifth straight multi-hit game with a pair of singles.

Jackson’s double broke through the scoreless tie in the top of the third inning.

Binghamton did not respond until the sixth. With two outs, Jefferson Rojas doubled. Jacob Reimer hit a deep ball to right field and Justin Gonzales threw him out at second base, but Rojas scored prior to the play, and the Rumble Ponies evened up the score 1-1.

RHP Aaron Nixon made his Double-A debut as the rain started to fall in the seventh inning. He allowed four runs on four hits and a hit batter, including a two-run home run from Corey Collins, his second in his last two games.

RHP Griffin Kilander dealt two scoreless innings in the eighth and ninth, allowing just one hit with four strikeouts.

Godbout singled to lead off the ninth. With one out, Yoeilin Cespedes grounded into what could have been an inning-ending double play, but the ball got away from the first baseman Baylor. Cespedes advanced to second on the error and scored on White’s double, before a groundout ended the game.

RHP Ryan Dollar (1-0, 0.00 ERA) earned the win in his Double-A debut, allowing no runs on one hit with four strikeouts in 2.0 innings pitched. RHP Aaron Nixon (0-1, 36.00 ERA) shouldered the loss, allowing four runs on four hits with one strikeout in 1.0 innings pitched.

Tomorrow is Grateful Dead Night at the ballpark as well as the 2026 Sea Dogs Hall of Fame Induction ceremony! Former Sea Dog Will Middlebrooks as well as Bill Burke and Sally McNamara will be honored pregame. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 pm at Delta Dental Park.
