Wrapping up 2026: Sea Dogs by the Numbers

The 2026 season was one for the books! Portland set multiple franchise records with plenty of exciting moments along the way. Here’s a look at how it all breaks down:

1 - No hitter thrown

• LHP Hayden Mullins started and pitched five innings in the Sea Dogs' combined no-hitter on April 26th vs Hartford, a 3-2 win, their ninth in franchise history. Mullins allowed two runs, none earned, on five walks and two errors. RHP Caleb Bolden and RHP Reidis Sena dealt 2.0 perfect innings each. The group struck out 12 Hartford batters. After an error on two outs in the third inning allowed two Hartford runs to score, Nate Baez tied the game with a two-run home run. Ronald Rosario delivered the game-winning RBI single.

2 - Sea Dogs in the 2026 MLB All-Star Futures Game

• Shortstop Franklin Arias and RHP Anthony Eyanson featured in the annual All-Star Weekend event, which showcases the league’s top Minor League prospects across all levels.

• Arias, 20, is the top prospect in the Red Sox organization. At the time of his selection, he was leading qualified Eastern League players in average (.328), slugging percentage (.594), and OPS (1.001), while ranking in the top five in the league in hits (80), total bases (145), home runs (16), and on-base percentage (.407).

• Anthony Eyanson, 21, was the No. 2 overall prospect in the Red Sox system and their top pitching prospect before he was dealt to the Orioles at the trade deadline. Prior to his selection, Eyanson had recorded a 1.48 ERA in seven starts for Portland.

2 - 2026 Sea Dogs who made their Red Sox debuts

• LHP Eduardo Rivera made two starts in Portland on April 9 and April 16, allowing one run in 10.0 innings pitched. He made his Red Sox debut on April 22, going 3.1 scoreless innings against the New York Yankees.

• RHP Jedixson Paez played in 17 games for Portland with seven starts, going 2-3 with a 4.41 ERA. He made his Red Sox debut on September 1, allowing eight runs on 10 hits and two walks in 3.2 innings pitched.

• The Sea Dogs had a winning record every day of the week except Tuesday (8-13). Sundays were the winningest day of the week (14-8). In order, the Sea Dogs went 12-11 on Wednesdays, 12-10 on Thursdays, 13-12 on Fridays, and 12-10 on Saturdays.

8 - Major League Rehabbers from the Boston Red Sox

• Pitchers Tanner Houck, Justin Slaten, Danny Coulombe and Patrick Sandoval made appearances on the mound for Portland in 2026.

• Fielders included Willson Contreras, Roman Anthony, Nick Sogard and Romy Gonzalez.

8 - Walk-Offs

• The Sea Dogs had some electric late-game moments at Delta Dental Park this season, including eight walk-off wins. Ahbram Liendo was involved in five of the eight walk-offs, coming through with the game-winning hit three times, on July 30, July 4, and April 9, while scoring the game-winning run twice, on June 20 and June 16. Max Ferguson, Franklin Arias, Johanfran Garcia, Stanley Tucker, and Marvin Alcantara each drove in walk-off runs, with Arias’ coming via pinch-hit home run on April 25.

8 - Eastern League hitting categories with Brooks Brannon ranked in the top 10

• Brannon led active, qualified Eastern League hitters in SLG% (.564) and OPS (.920).

• He ranked in the top 10 in the Eastern League in six additional categories, including AVG (6th, .280), HR (7th, 22), 2B (4th, 28), XBH (3rd, 52), RBI (8th, 70), and TB (9th, 196).

• His 22 home runs is the most by a Sea Dog since Jeremy Barfield (27) in 2017, and his .564 SLG% is the fourth best single-season mark in franchise history.

12 - Weekly Awards Granted

• The Sea Dogs earned 12 weekly awards this season, a franchise record by a large margin. No Sea Dogs team had previously earned more than eight weekly awards in a season (2014). Their six different pitchers of the week (seven awards) surpasses the previous high of four different pitchers and awards, done four times (2023, 2014, 2001, 1996). Their four different players of the week (five awards) ties the franchise record for both numbers set in 2024.

• Henry Godbout (September 1-6), Johanfran Garcia (August 24-30 & June 8-14), Ronald Rosario (July 13-19), and Brooks Brannon (May 4-10) earned Eastern League Player of the Week

• Hayden Mullins (September 1-6), Max Carlson (July 20-July 26), Blake Wehunt (June 22-28, June 30-July 5), Anthony Eyanson (May 18-24), Patrick Halligan (May 11-17), and John Holobetz (April 13-19) earned Eastern League Pitcher of the Week.

• Wehunt was the first Sea Dogs pitcher to earn the honor in consecutive weeks.

13 - Portland’s longest hitting streak

• Johanfran Garcia (6/2-6/20) and Jack Winnay (7/2-7/21) each recorded hit streaks of 13 games.

15 - Players who started and ended their season in Portland

• Pitchers Cooper Adams, Max Carlson, Hayden Mullins, Erik Rivera, and Dalton Rogers were on Portland’s Opening Day roster. Caleb Bolden started the season on the injured list, but played his first and last games of the season in Portland.

• Fielders Ronald Rosario, Ahbram Liendo, Marvin Alcantara, Miguel Bleis, Caden Rose, Nelly Taylor, and Will Turner were on Portland’s Opening Day roster. Alcantara did not play again after suffering an injury in July. Johanfran Garcia and Brooks Brannon both started the year on Portland’s injured list, before playing their entire seasons with the Sea Dogs.

26 - Portland’s longest on-base streak

• Brooks Brannon (7/29-9/8) narrowly beat out Ahbram Liendo (25, 5/28-7/1) for the longest on-base streak of the season.

84 - Walks by Will Turner

• Turner’s 84 walks is the second highest mark in the Eastern League this season, and the fifth highest mark in Double-A. His .369 on-base percentage is 8th best in the Eastern League. He is now tied with Nate Spears (2010) for the fifth most single season walks in franchise history.

189 - Home runs

• The Sea Dogs’ 189 home runs this season ranks second all time in franchise history. Portland hit 191 home runs in 1997. The next best mark after 1997 and 2026 is 136 home runs hit in 2022.

• Seven Sea Dogs hit 10 or more home runs, led by Brooks Brannon (22). Franklin Arias (19), Johanfran Garcia (18), Will Turner (18), Ronald Rosario (16), Miguel Bleis (13) and Tyler McDonough (12) joined Brannon in that category.

• An additional seven players hit five or more home runs, including Nate Baez (9), Max Ferguson (8), Henry Godbout (8), Nelly Taylor (8), Ahbram Liendo (8), Marvin Alcantara (6) and Jack Winnay (6).

• Portland was helped with two homers from rehabbing Major Leaguers, with one apiece from Romy Gonzalez and Roman Anthony.

451 - Extra base hits

• Portland’s 451 extra-base hits this season ranks fourth all time in franchise history. The breakdown consisted of 243 doubles, 19 triples and 189 home runs.

1,423 - Franchise record in single-season strikeouts

• The Sea Dogs crushed their previous franchise record of 1423 strikeouts, set in 2024. LHP Hayden Mullins led the way with 132. RHP Max Carlson had the most strikeouts by a Sea Dogs reliever with 90. Ten Sea Dogs pitchers had 70 or more strikeouts.
