Woodbridge, VA---The Washington Nationals have assigned RHP Jeremy Hellickson and RHP Brandon Kintzler  to the Potomac Nationals for a rehabilitation assignment. The two Washington pitchers will join the P-Nats Sunday afternoon at Northwest Federal Field at Pfitzner Stadium, as the P-Nats host the Wilmington Blue Rocks (Kansas City) at 1:05pm. The length of both rehab assignments has not been determined.

The Nationals placed Hellickson on the 10-day DL with a right hamstring strain on June 5th, retroactive to June 4th.
Signed by the Nationals as a free agent on 3/17/18, Hellickson has been spectacular in nine starts with Washington in 2018. The eight-year MLB veteran is 2-0 with a 2.28 ERA for the Nationals. Hellickson has struck out 34 and walked just six in 43.1 innings. The righty has allowed more than two runs in just one of his nine starts this season.
This will be Hellickson's first ever appearance with Potomac as well as in the Carolina League. He last pitched at the Advanced-A level with the Charlotte Stone Crabs in 2014.
Kintzler landed on the 10-day DL with a right forearm flexor strain on June 10th.
Acquired initially by Washington at the trade deadline in 2017 from the Minnesota Twins, Kintzler has been a mainstay in the Nationals' bullpen in each of the last two seasons. Drafted back in 2004 by the San Diego Padres, Kintzler appeared in 27 games for the Nationals in 2017. Last season, the right-handed reliever went 2-1 with a 3.46 ERA. In 31 games out of the Washington bullpen this season, Kintzler is 1-2 with a 4.45 ERA and two saves.
This will be Kintzler's first career appearance with Potomac in addition to the Carolina League. He last pitched at the Advanced-A level in 2012 with the Brevard County Manatees, now the Florida Fire Frogs.
The P-Nats match up with the Blue Rocks Sunday afternoon in the series finale. First pitch is set for 1:05pm and gates open at 12:00pm.
