Lake Elsinore, CA – The Lake Elsinore Storm shut out the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes on Saturday night, a final of 7-0 at “The Diamond”.
A three-run fourth put the Storm ahead to stay, as they capitalized on Rancho mistakes in tallying three unearned runs against reliever Michael Vilchez (1-2).
Both clubs finished with six hits each, but the Storm’s Kavares Tears led the way for Lake Elsinore with two hits and three RBIs.
Rancho’s Samuel Munoz had two of the six hits, as the Quakes were shut out for the fourth time this year.
Storm reliever Kannon Kemp (2-3) fired five scoreless innings in relief, earning the win.
The Quakes (49-40, 8-15) and Storm will play in the rubber-game of the three-game series on Sunday at 4:45pm, as Sterling Patick will take on Lake Elsinore’s Abraham Parra.
