(Reading, PA) - FirstEnergy Stadium will host the 11th Annual 222 Showcase on Tuesday, April 3rd at 6:35 p.m. The exhibition game, which pits the top prospects from the double-A Reading Fightin Phils and triple-A Lehigh Valley IronPigs against each other, is once again presented by Capital Blue Cross.
Because of Capital BlueCross's generous sponsorship, all ticket money from the 222 Showcase will benefit charities once again. This year, ticket money will not only benefit Baseballtown Charities and the Baseballtown Dream League, but will also aid many other local non-profit organizations.
"Baseball is America's game, and we are thrilled to once again sponsor the annual 222 Showcase," said Chrissy Hixson, Sr. Community Relations Consultant, Capital BlueCross. "This event does more than just bring together two of our favorite local teams on the baseball diamond. It helps make the dream of playing baseball a reality for children of all backgrounds and abilities. As a community-based health insurer, we are proud to be a part of this event which helps so many charities in the Reading area."
All non-profit organizations are invited to sign up for the free program and take part in the annual showcase event with a special fundraising offer. For every $5 general admission ticket sold through your group's promotion code, the Fightins and Capital BlueCross will donate that money right back to your organization. Thanks to Capital BlueCross, groups can simply sign up, send out an e-mail to their supporters with a special link, and for all tickets sold via that link, the entire $5 comes back to their non-profit organization. To get involved, non-profit leaders can contact Mike Robinson at 610-370-BALL ext. 229 or e-mail him at email@example.com. Upon completion of the event, a check will be sent to your organization.
Tickets for the exhibition game are on sale now via Fightins.com, over the phone at 610-370-BALL, and at the Fightins Ticket Office located at FirstEnergy Stadium. Blue Box seats are available for $5 in addition to general admission seating, with all proceeds benefitting Baseballtown Charities, the Baseballtown Dream League and other non-profit groups thanks our partners at Capital BlueCross.
The all-time series stands at 5-4 between the two clubs after Lehigh Valley won 2017's contest at Coca-Cola Park, 5-3. The Fightin Phils will look to get back into the win column in this year's game.
Baseballtown Charities, a non-profit 501(c)(3) entity, was launched over a decade ago in association with the Reading Fightin Phils in order to keep baseball alive in Reading through charitable donations to underprivileged youth, who otherwise wouldn't have the opportunity to play baseball. The organization was also founded to pay tribute to Reading's rich baseball history.
America's Classic Ballpark is proud to be a part of Pennsylvania's Americana Region.
