Phillies Futures Game to Kick Off "50 Seasons in Reading" Celebration

Intra-squad game on March 31, 2016 to feature 2016 Philadelphia Phillies and Top Prospects

The Phillies Future Game will be an intra-squad game featuring both members of the Philadelphia Phillies like Aaron Nola and prospects from the farm system like J.P. Crawford.

The Reading Fightin Phils and Philadelphia Phillies are proud to announce that the 2016 season will celebrate 50 seasons of the Phillies being affiliated with the Reading franchise. The affiliation is currently the longest in the minor leagues. 

Kicking off the "50 Seasons in Reading" celebration will be the debut game of the Phillies Futures Series on Thursday, March 31st 2016 at 6:05 p.m. at FirstEnergy Stadium. This first-ever Phillies Futures Game will feature the 2016 Philadelphia Phillies against the top prospects from the Phillies minor league system.

"2016 is going to be a very special year in Baseballtown," said Fightins General Manager Scott Hunsicker. "The Phillies Future Game is the first of its kind as we celebrate 50 seasons with the Phillies by showcasing the organization's future. This game will be a must-see event for fans of the Phillies and the Reading Fightins. To have the longest affiliation in all of Minor League Baseball and be affiliated with such a classy organization like the Phillies is such an honor. The Phillies Future Game is the perfect way to kick off the next chapter of our tremendous and storied affiliation. We can't thank the Phillies enough for bringing this event to Reading."

The game will feature an appearance from the Phillie Phanatic and a Futures Series Fathead giveaway for the first 2000 kids 14 & under thanks to PGW. 

It will be the first exhibition game in Reading featuring the Phillies in 16 years. The last exhibition game in Reading drew over 9,307 fans to see the Reading Phillies defeat the Philadelphia Phillies, 5-2, on May 8th, 2000. 

Tickets for this one-of-a-kind game will first be made available to all 2016 Reading Fightins season ticket, mini-plan holders, and group leaders. Fightins season ticket, mini-plan holders, and group leaders will be able to purchase an unlimited number of tickets for this historic game before they go on sale to the general public. Season tickets, mini-plans, and group tickets can be purchased here, by phone at 610-370-BALL, or in-person at the Fightins Ticket Office located at FirstEnergy Stadium. More information regarding individual tickets for the game will be forthcoming.
