Six Renegades Headed to All-Star Game

WAPPINGERS FALLS, NY-Rosters for the 2017 New York-Penn League All-Star Game have been announced and six Renegades will be representing the Hudson Valley. Second baseman
Vidal Brujan has had perhaps the best overall season of all Renegades position players. Entering play Tuesday, Brujan is batting .303 with three homers and 19 RBI. He leads the team in on-base percentage (.398), slugging (.467), on-base plus slugging (.865), hits (50), doubles (10), triples (4) and runs scored (32). His three homers are tied for second and his 19 RBI are second-most on the ballclub. He also leads the Renegades with nine stolen bases in 14 attempts.
After a slow start to the season, Zac Law came alive in July where he hit .280 with a homer and nine RBI. For the season, the outfielder turned catcher is hitting .250 with three dingers and 20 runs driven in. He recently saw a team-high 10-game hitting streak come to a close. After moving from rookie-league Princeton (WV) to low-A Bowling Green last season, Law was sent to Hudson Valley to learn how to become a catcher after spending his first three seasons in the organization as an outfielder. The Waco, TX native hasn't disappointed as he has gunned down 12 runners trying to steal.
This will be the second year in a row Angel Perez will take part in the New York-Penn League All-Star Game. He is second on the team with a .307 batting average with two homers and 12 RBI. He is also second in runs (21) and hits (43).
Leftfielder Oscar Rojas becomes an All-Star after batting .264 with 16 RBI in 37 games. Rojas is also tied for second in stolen bases with five, and tied for third in triples with two.
After starting the season in the bullpen, starting pitcher Drew Strotman has been solid since joining the rotation posting a 2-2 record, and a 1.88 ERA in seven games and four starts. Drafted in the fourth round of this year's draft out of St. Mary's College in California, Strotman has fired 28.2 innings and allowed only six earned runs on 17 hits. He has struck out 25 and walked six with opponents only hitting .172 against him. He also tossed 18.2 consecutive scoreless innings from July 3rd-July 25th.
Mikey York has had one of the best seasons in minor league baseball this season. The right-hander from Las Vegas, NV is currently in the midst of a 30.2 scoreless innings streak. In eight starts, York has a 4-1 record with a miniscule 0.82 ERA. In 44 innings, he has allowed 28 hits, four earned runs, eight walks, and 37 strikeouts with opponents only hitting .179 against him. In his eight outings, Mikey has allowed runs in only two of them. He last gave up a run on July 5th, and has not allowed more than five hits in any start this season.
The 2017 New York-Penn League All-Star Game will be played on Tuesday, August 15th. First-pitch is slated at 7:00 p.m. and will commence from Joseph L. Bruno Stadium in Troy, NY, the home of the Tri-City Valley Cats.
